7 year-old (ADHD)

The Problem:

My daughter was halfway through 1st grade when we started to receive consistent feedback from her teacher that she seemed to be having difficulty listening and focusing in class. She had become very selective about what she listened to and when. We learned that during 1-on-1 interaction with her teacher she shined, but left to manage on her own, she was struggling

For months her teacher and I worked together trying different strategies and techniques to support her. I scoured the internet in search of any success stories for families navigating similar concerns. We tried EVERYTHING.

As a board certified health coach I was bound and determined I wasn’t going to just put her on medication. There had to be a more holistic approach to help her.

Then, one day while scrolling through Facebook, I noticed a post from the ‘little Root Practitioner’ about a program offered for children with ADHD, Autism (ASD) and Anxiety.

FINALLY! A program focused on getting to the root cause of the issue. I had so many failed attempts of trial and error because I simply didn’t have a baseline to go off of. We had been navigating in the dark.

The Solution:

We spent a good portion of the summer learning how to eat differently, finding healthy (but still yummy) alternatives and getting into a routine with her supplements. Making some of the changes hasn't always been easy but knowing that the specific changes we are implementing  are tailored to her needs (based off of objective measures) has been a significant motivator. Not only that but my child has also established a great awareness of what she puts in her body and how it can impact her health!

Now, in the start of second grade, she has been meeting with her school counselor every few weeks and her teacher said things are going very well for her right now. I am hopeful as we continue to support her by being mindful of our nutrition choices and take the supplements that were recommended, she will continue to demonstrate progress and growth!

The Proof:

Over the four month program, the results have not happened overnight but in small stages overtime. Transitions from ending an activity have become less stressful. Before we would typically have emotional distress when ending an activity she wanted to keep doing. Although there is still some coaxing happening, it’s less and the listening to directions happen sooner.

For anyone on the fence about trying this program, just do it. Food is medicine and the body is amazing when you provide it with the things it needs. The results won’t happen overnight and the changes won’t always be easy - but, I promise you it’s worth it.
